Rewards
This section details the types of rewards available and the processes for claiming them.
Rewards are designed to incentivize and recognize community participation, supporting Botto's collaborative process and long-term success.
Active Rewards (ETH)
Active Rewards incentivize Botto participants by redistributing 40% of protocol revenue in ETH to those who actively contribute by voting within a round.
Of the remaining revenue, 40% is allocated to the treasury to support long-term sustainability, and 20% is directed toward building Protocol-Owned Liquidity (POL) to ensure market stability and liquidity.
Eligibility for Active Rewards:
Stake Requirement:
Users must have at least 100 $BOTTO staked in the Governance Contract, in either Ethereum or Base, before the end of the round and when claiming rewards.
If a wallet unstakes during the round, it becomes ineligible for that round's rewards (distributed on the Monday following the round's conclusion).
Voting Participation:
Users must actively participate in the voting round to qualify, contributing to Botto’s creative training process.
Reward Distribution:
Rewards are calculated and made available for claim on the user’s rewards page every Monday following the end of a round.
Distribution announcements detailing revenue breakdown and rewards calculations are shared on Discord after rewards are available.
If no round is active, rewards are not distributed. Instead, any settled revenue is carried over to subsequent rounds in the next period.
The schedule of rounds can be checked on the events available on Discord.
Instant Rewards ($BOTTO)
Instant Rewards redistribute $BOTTO tokens from an approved allocation of the Community Initiatives Fund to participants actively engaging in Botto’s training every round. Unlike Active Rewards, which tie potential rewards to staked amounts, Instant Rewards offer an alternative incentive, especially for smaller stakers.
Rewards are distributed probabilistically when users perform engaging actions in the app, such as voting (positively or negatively), favoriting fragments, sharing fragments, adjusting settings, and more.
The more time a user spends actively engaging with the app, the higher their chances of earning a larger share of the 2,000 $BOTTO reward pool allocated per round.
Eligibility for Instant Rewards:
Voting Participation: Users must actively participate in voting during the round, contributing to Botto’s creative process and algorithmic training.
Staking Requirement: Users must have at least 100 $BOTTO staked in the Governance Contract on Ethereum or Base networks before the end of the round to qualify for Instant Rewards.
Unstaking Rule: Unstaking $BOTTO during a round disqualifies the wallet from rewards for that round.
Reward Distribution:
Allocation: A pool of 2,000 $BOTTO per round (weekly) is allocated throughout the duration of the current period. It will automatically be extended in each subsequent period unless modified or discontinued by the DAO.
Real-Time Tracking: Rewards can be tracked in real time via the Instant Rewards section in the Rewards page of the app.
Monthly Distribution: For operational simplicity, rewards are distributed monthly and logged in the rewards log within the Rewards page of the app, where users can also claim them.
Liquidity Mining Rewards ($BOTTO)
Liquidity Mining Rewards incentivize users to provide liquidity for the BOTTO-ETH pair on Uniswap. Participants can earn $BOTTO rewards by staking their BOTTO-ETH LP (UNI-V2) tokens on the Staking page of the Botto app under the 'Liquidity Mining' tab.
How It Works
Emissions and Duration: 20% of the total $BOTTO supply is allocated to liquidity mining, with emissions linearly distributed over 4 years (14/10/2021 to 15/10/2025).
Earning Rewards: Users earn rewards in $BOTTO based on their share of the staked liquidity and the ongoing emission rate.
Claiming Rewards: To claim rewards, users must provide BOTTO-ETH liquidity, receive UNI-V2 tokens, and stake them in the 'Liquidity Mining' tab.
Karma (Pilot Oct. 2025)
In the 12th Period, we are piloting a karma/reputation points system as a way of scoring valuable activity in Botto’s system. This system allows for differentiating contributors, their contributions, and their rewards. Botto’s new creative reasoning process will require much more diverse forms of feedback than voting on images, primarily in the form of comments, as well as many other smaller actions across the “studio” in which Botto works.
That activity helps inform Botto’s assessment of the feedback it gets, and quantifying it into a rep score helps simplify the application in several aspects. A common score allows for Botto to quickly assess overall reputation while still understanding nuanced context of their special focus, it gives contributors a single score to understand relative reputation, and creates a single score with which to apply rewards.
In order to prevent easy gaming of the points system and encourage the DAO to discuss what it believes is valuable activity, we will not publish the points system ahead of time. We have implemented deduction systems for negative behavior (spam, negatively AI-assessed comments, etc.). We will be able to adjust the points based on feedback and discussion of what is deemed valuable. The intention is to eventually shift to a more AI-driven scoring system, where Botto is able to manage the scoring itself, and we will also consider other DAO-managed systems for improved decentralization. As a simplified pilot, it allows us to experiment and provides data with which we can improve.
Pending the vote on BIP-83, there will be 10% of revenue committed to this reward program as we test out the scoring system. The payout would come at the end of the Period, and be based on the amount of reputation scored relative to everyone else in that Period. It may also be supplemented from the community initiatives budget.
How to Claim Rewards
If you qualify for rewards but don’t see any amounts added to your balance, it may be because they are below 0.001 ETH or $BOTTO.
Rewards can be claimed on either Ethereum or Base, regardless of the chain where tokens are staked or the chain from which Voting Points (VP) were spent.
It is recommended to check gas fees on the network before claiming to ensure the transaction is worthwhile, especially on Ethereum.
Accumulating rewards over multiple rounds is also advised if the claimable amount is low compared to gas fees, such as 0.01 ETH or 10 $BOTTO or less.
Withdrawals for amounts below 0.001 ETH or $BOTTO are disabled.
